Disability Confident

Building a culture of disability confident starts with a general introduction to Disability Awareness.

In this workshop participants will gain an awareness of the variability and prevalence of disability, the differences and commonalities across various conditions, impairments, and disabilities, and the unique experiences of people with visible or hidden disabilities. You will also learn about environmental, attitudinal and organizational barriers and how they present themselves in the workplace.

Managing Stress and Preventing Burnout

In this transitioning Covid-19 era stressors have increased and many coping mechanisms have been taken away or altered. The lines between work and personal life have become more blurred, especially for remote workers, and burnout has become a bigger concern.

In this session, Jen will help participants learn about self-awareness, how to identify, set and adhere to boundaries, understand the effects of prolonged stress on mental health, and prevent burnout before it arises

Cultivating Resilience

It can be extremely difficult to overcome challenges and navigate change, especially when they pile on top of each other. Learning to adapt to new circumstances and withstand uncertainty are essential to coping in a time of Covid-19.

This session will draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Positive Psychology and Jen’s own experience of recovery and isolation, offering insights on how to cultivate resiliency and adaptability in a time of unprecedented change.

Inclusive Communication

Knowing what language to use to support inclusion helps us engage in the conversations necessary to continue the journey towards a truly inclusive culture.

Gaining knowledge and increasing your comfort level with inclusive language is a key outcome of the session. Using Jen’s own experience as someone with a hidden disability the session will explore attitudinal barriers, best practice language and effective listening skills to guide you on a journey to be a better ally, a more compassionate manager, or a more informed disability confident leader.

Mental Health Awareness

If you want to start building a culture of wellbeing in your workplace, a great place to start is a general introduction to Mental Health Awareness.

In this session participants will gain an awareness of the variability and prevalence of mental health problems in the workplace. Participants will learn about the mental health continuum, workplace stressors, and who is most at risk of experiencing poor mental health. With Jen’s personal experience as a guideline, we will look at how to spot changes in your employees and colleagues and where to find mental health support.

Breaking Stigma: Language and Communication

Part of the challenge in breaking the stigma around mental health is gaining knowledge and a comfort level with inclusive language and thereby reducing the fear of saying the wrong thing.

Using Jen’s own experience as a baseline, this session explores attitudinal barriers, what to say (and not say), microaggressions, effective listening skills and tangible steps to make day to day work life more inclusive for people experiencing mental health problems.
