Our Disability Confident half day workshop will enable you to confidently interact with disabled people in your workplace and start creating a more inclusive space for your disabled colleagues and employees.

There are over 13 million disabled people in the UK but many people feel awkward when communicating and working with disabled people and are often afraid to start a conversation for fear of offending someone.

As someone who used to have similar fears before acquiring a hidden disability, Jen opens up a safe place to ask questions and explore areas of concern.

Most people have good intentions and really want to get things right, so we developed a half day workshop that will leave you feeling empowered and motivated to support your disabled colleagues and employees and become better allies.

We will help you answer questions like :

  • What is the best way to encourage disclosure from our employees with hidden disabilities?
  • Will I cause offence if I offer help to a disabled person?
  • Is it okay to use the words “see, hear and walk”?
  • What are reasonable adjustments and how much do they cost?
  • How should I communicate appropriately?
  • Why isn’t our inclusive recruitment strategy working?

Employee Wellbeing

One of the leading causes of sickness absence in the UK is poor mental health, and employees are under immense pressure to withstand stress and uncertainty and perform at their best. One of the best ways to support employees is to help them learn how to support themselves.

In this workshop, Jen encourages employees to speak to their colleagues about stressors in the workplace and offers tools and techniques to overcome them.

Employees will gain a thorough understanding of what triggers mental health problems, what the most common mental health problems are and how to proactively manage stress before it becomes overwhelming or leads to burnout. They will also learn about strategies to build resilience and become more empowered to ask for help when needed.

We will help you answer questions like :

  • How can I find time to cope with stress during a busy workday?
  • How do I know when I’m stressed?
  • Where can I go if I need more support?
  • Which part of my job is negatively impacting my mental health?

Supporting Staff Mental Health

More than 50% of people with mental health problems admitted they didn’t tell their employer about their poor mental health because they were embarrassed, feared it would harm their career, or didn’t think their employer could help.

Many managers want to support their staff but just don’t know how.
In this workshop you will gain an awareness of mental health generally and the most common workplace stressors. You will also be encouraged to examine the role of stigma in your organisation and what steps you can take to combat this.

We will help you answer questions like :

  • How do I improve employee wellbeing with a limited budget?
  • How do I start a conversation?
  • How do I let my employees know they can talk to me?
  • What are mental health reasonable adjustments?
  • When does my role end and someone else’s begin?
